OVERGROWN - OPERA OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

(EN) Overgrown – opera of the nervous system is the second exhibition on view at Galerie 3AP in Düsseldorf. The group exhibition brings together contemporary positions from Munich, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Offenbach and Rotterdam. Experiences of architecture and nature lead to artistic spatial constitutions that find expression in photography, video art, drawing, sculpture and even architectural models.

On display are works by architect Roberto Barbosa (*1990) and the artists Toni Meyer (*1988), Sandra Mann (*1970), Robert Schittko (*1987) and Lara Werth (*1996). The permanent is contrasted with the fleetingly impermanent, decay is followed by overgrowth and resurrection. The various positions express a feeling of an age that is characterized by fragile, highly efficient systems and networks, at the same time cut off connections to oneself, others and nature. The city appears as an action-theoretical context in which the natural environment is rearranged and restructured. As a nervous system and material expression of physical activity, it is in a state of continuous change, growth and reshaping. But what dramaturgy does human second nature follow? Who or what are its heroes and protagonists? A text by architect and university lecturer Prof. Katrin Terstegen accompanies the exhibition. (DE) Overgrown – opera of the nervous system ist die zweite Ausstellung der Galerie 3AP in Düsseldorf. Die Gruppenausstellung vereint zeitgenössische Positionen aus München, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Offenbach und Rotterdam. Architektur- und Naturerfahrung münden in künstlerischen Raumkonstitutionen, die ihren Ausdruck in Fotografie, Videokunst, Zeichnung und Skulptur bis hin zum Architekturmodell finden.

Ausgestellt sind Werke des Architekten Roberto Barbosa (*1990), sowie der Künstler:innen Toni Meyer (*1988), Sandra Mann (*1970), Robert Schittko (*1987) und Lara Werth (*1996). Beständiges wird kontrastiert mit flüchtig Unbeständigem, dem Zerfall folgen Überwucherung und Auferstehung. In den verschiedenen Positionen drückt sich ein Gefühl eines Zeitalters aus, das geprägt ist von fragilen, hocheffizienten Systemen und Vernetzungen, gleichzeitig gekappten Verbindungen zu sich selbst, anderen und der Natur. Die Stadt tritt als handlungstheoretischer Kontext in Erscheinung, in dem die natürliche Umwelt neu geordnet und restrukturiert wird. Als Nervensystem und materieller Ausdruck körperlicher Aktivitäten befindet sie sich in einem Zustand der kontinuierlichen Veränderung, des Wachstums und der Überformung. Doch welcher Dramaturgie folgt die zweite Natur des Menschen? Wer oder was sind ihre Held:innen und Protagonist:innen? Die Ausstellung wird begleitet von einem Text der Universitätsprofessorin und Architektin Katrin Terstegen (Los Angeles).
